Freeze, Turkeys! Black Dynamite Gets Animated
Posted on August 12, 2011 |
One of my favorite movie of 2009 and possibly ever, Black Dynamite has just morphed into an animated series for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim which will see the light of day Spring 2012.
From the minds of Scott Sanders and Black Dynamite himself Michael Jai White, it’s a continuation/spin-off of the film. All your favorites are back: Byron Minns as Bullhorn, Tommy Davidson as Cream Corn, and Kym Whitley as Honeybee.
For the uninitiated, Black Dynamite was a spoof of everything that made 1970s blaxploitation films so awesome and unintentionally hilarious. It did poorly in the theaters when it was released but it has already attained cult classic status in DVD form.
Trailer:
A sequel to the movie will surely happen one of these days but in the meantime, this badass new animated series will do.
In this debut episode:
Black Dynamite is assigned to stop a rogue educational show puppet from executing his diabolical plan on national TV.
Here’s the 11-minute series pilot for y’all:
