Osheaga 2010: The Recap

Posted on August 7, 2010 |

A week ago today, 53 000 people showed up on Île-Sainte-Hélène, making this year’s festivities their most well attended edition yet.

Killer lineup of bands + perfect Summer weather, there was no way this edition
would fail.

Highlights for me included hearing songs from the new Walkmen album “Lisbon”.
they were the first band I caught on Satuday and really defined what made of
awesome the rest of my weekend would be like.

The Walkmen – “Victory”

Vancouver twosome Japandroids rocked it pretty hard on the Green Stage as
expected.

Japandroids – “Rockers East Vancouver”

Seeing Pavement for the first and probably last time was something I never
thought I get a chance to. They were one of those indie bands I missed out
on seeing live during their height of popularity in the 90’s. Except for
one  douche who threw his full cup of beer straight on the Malkmus
(who credit to him, took it pretty well) it all went down pretty easy.

Pavement – “Grounded”

Pavement – “Cut Your Hair”

Seeing little Tweens rocking to Sexagenerians Devo like they were the next
Justin Bieber or someone of that ilk, put a smile on this old, jaded face.

Their whole set was pretty much made of silliness.

Devo – “Don’t Shoot (I’m A Man)”

Devo – “Girl U Want”

Devo – “Whip It”

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion … witness the greatness.

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion – “Burn It Off”

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion – “She Said”

Haven’t lost a step. Hoping for a new record soon.

The pictures I managed to take sans my DSLR is up on Flickr.

And the full list of videos I shot during the weekend is up on YouTube.

Saturday, July 31st

Arcade Fire – “Haiti”
Jimmy Cliff – “Wild World” (Cat Stevens Cover)
Edward Sharpe &  The Magnetic Zeros – “Home”
Final Flash – “Chosen Generation”
Japandroids – “Heart Sweats”
The National – “Mistaken For Strangers”
Owen Pallett – “That’s When The Audience Died”

Sunday, August 1st

The Black Keys – “Everlasting Light” ( 2 )
Blitzen Trapper
Hannah Georgas – “Chit Chat”
Hannah Georgas – “Dancefloor”
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion ( 1 ) ( 2 )
Seu Jorge & Almaz – “Ziggy Stardust” (David Bowie Cover)
Major Lazer
The Morning Benders
Snoop Dogg – “Gin & Juice”
Sonic Youth ( 1 ) ( 2 )
Still Life Still

I wasn’t able to look up song titles of some of those performances
so if you can identify them, lemme know in the comments section.

See ya next year Osheaga, you beautiful bastard you.
